Mr. Kim gets competitive with Janet over who is the better photographer, which leads to trouble for Janet at school. Mrs. Kim wants to be able to brag to her friends about Jung but is finding it hard to make his car rental position sound respectable. She's happy when she hears he's going for a new job, but that sours when she finds out it's still at the car rental agency.

Appa believes that he is as good if not better a photographer than Janet or any of her classmates at the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD). This belief is due to his photographs being in focus, frame centered and always of happy subjects compared to some of Janet's photos being purposefully out of focus, off-centered and of the grittier side of life. But Appa may change his focus in regard to his and Janet's photos from artistic sensibility to pure economics. Not clearing what he does with Janet may cause her some problems as she has been asked at the last minute to display her photos at the college's upcoming open house. Meanwhile, in his continuing effort to get ahead in life, Jung has decided to apply for the assistant manager position at the car rental agency. This decision has three markedly different reactions. On one side is Kimchee, who can't understand why Jung would want to bust his butt in a managerial position as opposed to goofing off with him out of eyesight of Shannon. On a different perspective of the same side is Umma, who, while all for Jung getting ahead in life, sees that as meaning being a doctor or lawyer, she who goes to extreme lengths to ensure Jung doesn't get the job. Her perspective is largely due to always being in competition with overly competitive Mrs. Park, a member of her church group who is always extolling the virtues of her family. On the other side is Shannon, who would like to see to see Jung get the job if only to be closer to him in the biblical sense, with her issues being needing to justify his less than stellar resume to corporate head office.
